Six Ways to Keep Your Computer Running Smoothly and Efficiently

Just like humans, computers also get old and worn out, as time passes by, making them less efficient than before. When brand new, pc's are normally quite fast in performance and free of problems. However, as you continue to use your pc daily, browse the net, download files, and open various sites, certain problems start to arise.

Consequently, it's very important to keep your computer in excellent condition. There are various ways through which you can maintain the healthy condition of your pc.
1) To avoid unwanted malfunctions, ensure to place your computer in an area which is well ventilated.
Also, see to it that the air vents are not obstructed to avoid overheating as it can lead to defects in internal components.
Overheating is also a source of many other problems in pc.

If you're using a laptop, don't put it on cloth or soft material such as on the bed where the air vents will be blocked.
Instead, place it on a flat, hard surface. 2) Try to clean up the dust which accumulates inside the computer including the case and power supply vents, and circuitry.

You can use compressed air cans to clean these components. Do this every six months or more frequent than that.
Through this, circuitry damage and overheating can be avoided.

Remember to unplug your pc from the power outlet, of course, to avoid electrocution. Additionally, do not touch the circuitry to avoid any damages. 3) Make it a habit to create back ups of valuable data in case of unprecedented failure which causes data loss. If possible, keep updated backups and place the disks in a safe place so that even if your pc gets damaged or destroyed, you'll still have your precious files. 4) Install a reliable anti-virus program.
Be sure to keep it updated frequently to protect your pc from harmful virus attacks.
For more protection, set up the firewall as it can help make your computer more secure.
5) Run Scandisk and Defragmenter on your pc once in a few months for the maximization of the hard drive's efficiency.

Run Disc Cleanup to empty the recycling bin and remove accumulated files.
If don't know how to utilize these programs, you can use the "Help and Support" located on the Start menu. Learn all the mechanisms of your pc by searching for keywords in the Help section.
6) Avoid eating, drinking or smoking when using your pc. Eating and drinking while browsing the net brings the risk of spillage.
Moreover, smoking may result to residues inside the computer.

This can cause damages to sensitive parts.
